10th Anniversary of The Oklahoma Nutcracker

This year, the Norman Ballet Company will celebrate the 10^th anniversary of its holiday classic, The Oklahoma Nutcracker!  Premiering in 2002, The Oklahoma Nutcracker is the NBC’s unique version of the world’s best known and loved ballet, the Nutcracker.  Maintaining the Nutcracker’s traditional storyline and Tchaikovsky score, The Oklahoma Nutcracker integrates elements of Oklahoma history and natural resources resulting in a unique holiday experience for Oklahoma families.

Performed by young dancers from the Norman and Oklahoma City area,  local actors and performers, and professional guest artists, the ballet has earned its place as “Norman Oklahoma’s  favorite holiday tradition”.  Our guest artists this year are Stephanie Foraker Pitts and her partner, Anton Iakovlev, both from the Oklahoma City Ballet.  Ms. Pitts is a former NBC company member and returns to our company to perform as the Sand Plum Fairy.

This year, we are continuing in our new venue at the Nancy O’Brian Center for the Performing Arts, 1809 Stubbeman Ave. in Norman, Oklahoma.  The Oklahoma Nutcracker will take place on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at 3:00 PM.   The popular Sand Plum Fairy Tea Party will be held in the Studio Theater at 1:00 PM and will feature the Sand Plum Fairy and the Nutcracker as special guests, crafts for children, and delicious refreshments provided by Althea’s Vault Café & Bakery!

All tickets for the Oklahoma Nutcracker performance are reserved and cost $20.  Tickets for the Sand Plum Fairy Tea Party are $18.
