About the Norman Ballet Company

Since 1984, the Norman Ballet Company has brought the beauty of classical ballet to Norman and surrounding communities. NBC’s mission is to give professional performing experiences to young, aspiring dancers throughout central Oklahoma. It also gives young dancers the opportunity to advance their experience in performing arts, grow in art appreciation, and share this growth with the greater community of central Oklahoma.

For 30 years, the Company has produced original ballets: The Little Prince, Secret Garden, The Oklahoma Nutcracker and many others as well as restaging classics such as Cinderella, The Firebird, and Coppelia. The Norman Ballet Company also sponsors workshops for young area dancers and provides community outreach opportunities for local organizations. The support of our community, corporations, and individuals has resulted in a rich tradition of ballet productions in a professional atmosphere that has become an integral part of the Arts in Norman. Several of our former dancers are currently dancing in professional ballet companies, on Broadway, and have degrees in dance from major universities.

NBC holds open auditions for all of our productions and attracts young dancers from Norman and many surrounding central Oklahoma cities. Audience members from throughout Oklahoma, and coming from outside the state, attend our annual Oklahoma Nutcracker. In Spring of 2012 the company was proud to present a week-long residency with dancer/choreographer Brian Reeder. Mr. Reeder, formerly of New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theater, took part in ABT’s Education Department “Make a Ballet” program (2004-06) and is currently on the faculty of ABT’s Summer Intensives in NYC.
